The NCWHA Summer Fun Show is back!
This year it will be held at
the Penn Valley Rodeo Grounds on
September 25, 2022
The show will be judged by renowned local horse trainer Megan Gallagher. Our trail classes will be judged by the one and only trail judge Claudia Booth. We have added a number of classes for trotting horses (including ranch horse classes) in addition to gaited horse classes, and we encourage all breeds to attend. On the day before the show, Saturday, September 24, 2022, the Penn Valley Rodeo has added a gaited barrel racing and a gaited pole bending class to its Gymkhana series, so you can participate both days.
If you are new to showing, need a tune up or just want to have fun, this show is for you. Sponsor information for the show is included near the end of the Premium, and we hope to find a number of sponsors to help offset the costs.
Overnight camping and corrals are available by contacting John Favetti at 530-913-1072 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The Rodeo Grounds will have the cookhouse open for refreshments, and there are several restaurants and a grocery nearby. If you are coming from out of the area and need other people or horse lodging, we can help.
Last year's inaugural Fun Show at Nevada County Horsemen's was a huge success with an impressive turnout, and NCWHA is very excited to bring back this event in 2022. It is wonderful to see all different types of horses and people of all ages in the ring having run. If you are not showing but want to be there to cheer us all on, please fill the stands! Please share this post so more can enjoy the fun!
Nevada County used to have many open horse shows with rail classes, and this is the only one I know of now. Nevada County has a rich history of horse activities that should be preserved, so please participate!
